Pearl Rice Balls

This is a very delicious recipe that we tried for the first time....it will not be the last time I will make it!

Pearl rice balls

200 g of glutinous rice. In my case, I used calrose rice

2 carrots, chopped

60 grams of mushrooms washed and dried

120 grams raw shrimp

1 piece (1 cm) ginger, peeled, grated

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon soy sauce

4 green onions, cut into pieces

4 teaspoons of rice flour

Sauce

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/8 cup of water

1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1 teaspoon spicy sesame oil

chopped green onions

Mix all the ingredients for the sauce, and set aside.

Soak the glutinous rice for 2 hours. Drain and set aside. Since I didn't have glutinous rice, I soaked the calrose rice for 40 minutes, and then cooked it half way through in water. Drain and set aside.

In a food processor, place the carrots, shrimps and mushrooms, and chopped them all. Add the green onions, garlic, ginger, rice flour, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Blend it until you have a pate mixture. Make small balls, and place it in the fridge for 1 hour to set them. These balls should be firm, but no hard.

Take the balls out of the fridge, and coat them with the rice. Place it in a steamer (bamboo steam), and cook them for 20 minutes. Serve them warm with the sauce. ENJOY!

Also, this year I made my Chinese  New Year traditional recipes from previous years....the recipes are in the links

This year I made the dumpling's dough, the recipe is in this post.
