During these cold days, I tried a dish that for a long time I wanted to taste "Gratin Dauphinois". It was not heavy.....it was delicious with some calamari with tomato sauce
Gratin Dauphinois
1 kg of potatoes
250ml of pure cream
250 ml) milk
30 grams of butter
4 cloves of garlic
Salt
Pepper
Wash and peel potatoes. Slice them and set aside. Slice the garlic.
Mix the cream and milk. Set aside
With butter, grease a clay mold for the oven. Add a little of the milk/cream mix. Arrange a layer of potatoes, and distribute on top of them garlic, salt, pepper. Once you finished all layers possible, pour all the cream/milk mixture. On top sprinkle salt and pepper. It is not in the recipe, but I added some oregano to make it more flavorful. Bake in the oven at 350F for 30 minutes. It will depend on how thick are your potato slices.
Calamari with Fried Tomato
600 g clean squid, diced
30 g of extra virgin olive oil
2 chopped onions
2 cloves of garlic
200 g of homemade fried tomato
1/2 glass white wine
Salt
Pepper
Oregano
Stir fry the onion and garlic, and add the squid. Cook it for 5 minutes. Add the white wine and cook it for 3 minutes. Add the fried tomato, correct it for salt, and pepper. Serve it warm.
