We found in youtube this wonderful traditional Georgian bread. Since it has a lot of cheese, it was perfect for us!
This bread has its origins in sailors; thus, the shape it is of a boat, the cheese is the sea, and the egg yolk is the sun.
In my opinion, it is to heavy for 1 person. My recommendation is dividing each bread for 2 persons.
For 2 boats
Khachapuri
250g white bread flour
160g water room temperature
5g salt
5g sugar
3g dry yeast
10g olive oil
Filling
100g crumbled feta cheese
100g grated mozzarella
100g grated gouda
1 egg
For the toppings
2 eggs
Mix water, sugar and yeast. Let it rest for 10 minutes or until foamy. Add the olive oil.
Mix flour and salt. Add the liquids, and kneed it for 10 minutes. Let it rise for 1 hour, punch the dough. Let it rise for 2 hours. Place it in the fridge overnight.
Mix all the cheeses with the egg. Set aside
Divide the dough in two, and flatten it making a boat shape. Fill each boat with half of the cheese mixture. Bake it in a preheated oven at 210 C for 14 minutes. Take it out of the oven, make a hole and place an egg. Bake it in a preheated oven at 210 C for 4 minutes or until the egg is done. ENJOY!!
They look sensational! Wish my husband ate cheese...
