Shrimps with Feta Cheese (Garides Saganaki)...a nice Greek Appetizer...and Thanks Mariant for the Award!!!

I'm coming from a holidays weekend, and as soon as I started to read different blogs that I follow, I realized that the majority of them are presenting shrimps in their current posts. Those dishes opened my appetite!!

I don't know about you, but when I am on holidays, I end up as tired as before taking time off. Therefore, I need to cook something fast, easy, savory, fulfilling, and with shrimps. Since is summer, and the day is quite nice, I will make just finger foods. One of the dishes I have prepared is called Garides Saganaki. It is a very easy Greek dish, and I hope you will enjoy as much as I did doing and eating it!

This dish is dedicated to Mariant. She is a wonderful cook from Spain that always impress me!!....Thanks Mariant!!

I will share this award with the following blogs:

Angelica for her wonderful recipes with nice Chilean landscape's pictures...

Anabella for her magnificent work in collecting the history of the Chilean cooking and recipes

Gloria for her incredible variety and tastes of Mediterranean flavors

Patricia for her outstanding recipes with home taste

To all our readers....THANK YOU!!

Here is the recipe:

500 grams of clean schrimps
350 grams of ripe chopped tomatoes or 1 can of tomatoes
200 grams of feta cheese
2 clove of garlic (minced)
1 onion (chopped)
Oregano
Chopped parsley to decorate
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper
1/2 cup of dry white wine or Ouzo

In a pot, heat the olive oil and fry the onion and garlic. Add the wine or ouzo, and let it evaporate it. Add the shrimps, and let it cook for 3 minutes. Incorporate the tomatoes, and season it with salt, pepper, and oregano. Let it simmer for 6 minutes. Once is cooked, distribute this stew in 6 small oven-proof dishes. Put on top each dish the crumble feta cheese, and place the bowls under the grilling in the oven until the feta cheese has melted. Serve with parsley to decorate. Enjoy with a piece of bread!!!....and a glass of wine.....!!
