Flan a l'Alsacienne

A very simple and humble dessert with a wonderful taste....

This was our Thanksgiving dessert, and we love the simplicity and the "home" nature of it

Pastry cream

500 ml of milk
100 grams of sugar
3 eggs
50 grams of cornstarch
1 teaspoon of vanilla paste

Filling
2 apples (I used Gala) peeled and cut in pieces
15 grams of butter
3 tablespoons of candied orange
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 tablespoons of your favorite liquor

Combine the milk, sugar, and vanilla paste. Add the eggs and cornstarch and mix it well. Cook until firm stirring constantly.

In a pan, melt the butter and add the pieces of apple. Cover it with sugar and liquor. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until apples are cooked but firm. Turn off the heat, and add the candied oranges. Mix it well.

Distribute the fruit mix in ramekins (1/4 of the ramekin), and fill it with the pastry cream. Put it in the oven on broiler for 1 minute. Let it cool and put it in the fridge for 1 hopur before eating. Enjoy!
