I make my own kefir, but somedays I don't drink it. Therefore. I use it to make new dishes. These kefir pancakes ended up fluffy, soft and delicious!!
Kefir pancakes with blueberries
1 1/3 cup of kefir
1 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup wheat flour freshly milled
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 egg
2 teaspoon of sugar
1 pinch of salt
Mix all together, and place it overnight in the fridge to have a slow fermentation. Next day, take it out of the fridge 30 minutes prior to cook them. Place two tablespoons of batter, and add on top frozen blueberries. Cook it for 3-4 minutes per side. Serve it with Maple syrup or jams. ENJOY!!
They look really tender and fluffy!
ReplyDeleteI have never tired making kefir at home. Do you have a recipe on your blog?
ReplyDeleteThe pancakes do look lovely with blueberries.
Hi Balvinder, in order to make kefir you need to have a starter. Then, you cultivate it by mixing with milk, and let it ferment for 24 hours. You can enjoy it alone, or with fruits in smoothies. I cook with it as well.
DeleteSeems like a really healthy way to eat pancakes. I used to eat kefir, but have recently drifted more towards Greek yogurt, which I often have with blueberries.,
ReplyDeleteKefir is supposed to be really good for you. These pancakes with the fresh blueberries look delicious.
ReplyDeleteDelicioso...
