My contribution to HEMC#46 Delights for parties....Sweet Sushi!!

I have a good friend that told me that she introduced sushi to her kids by making it sweet with chocolate and fruits. After they ate this delight, they started to eat the regular sushi.

For me, it was very strange. I have no idea what was a sweet sushi......and most important, I have a daughter that eats everything!!!....My daughter is 3 years and a half and loves spinach, lentils, beans, chickpeas, rice, pasta, and seafood.....Spicy? she likes better...Sour? loves it ....Bitter? she will ask for more......

Therefore, I never had problems to introduce food to her. Nevertheless, there are some food that she doesn't eat such as macaroni and cheese (the one that comes in boxes), peanut butter, marshmallows, and popcorn. Thus, I am very happy.....she is my little gourmet. She loves to cook with me, and she tries every new recipe that I make.

Anyway.....I tried at my friend's home this dish, and I found that is a very nice recipe to make for parties. However, Why when we think about parties we think for adults only? Why not to make a delight for kids parties?

I have made this recipes for adults parties and kids parties, and in both occasions they love it......

Here goes the recipe:

3/4 cup sushi rice
1 1/2 cup of milk
1/4 cup of cream
2 tablespoons of sugar
3 cardamom seeds crushed
110 grams of very good white chocolate chopped (for cooking)

Filling
Fruit cutted in fine strips. Mangoes, strawberries, bananas, kiwis, cherries, pears, or as you wish.

Decoration
Sweet sprinkles or chopped black chocolate

In a pot, mix together the sushi, milk, cream, sugar and cardamom seeds. Bring it to boil, and reduce the heat to low temperature. Stir it constantly to avoid the rice get burn. Once the rice is cooked, and the water/milk have evaporated, turn off the heat and add the chopped white chocolate. Stir it until the white chocolate get dissolved. Let it rest, but do not let it cool. It has to be warm.

On a table, put a piece of plastic wrap. Spread half of the warm rice in a rectangle of 10 cm x 20 cm. Put the pieces of fruit near one of the sides, but towards to the middle. With the help of the plastic wrap, roll the rice to make the sushi tube shape. Tight the ends, and freeze them until very very firm (about 1 hour). Repeat with the other half of the rice the same procedure.

Once the rolls are firm, take them out of the freezer and cut them along the tube like sushi. Decorate it on top with sprinkles or black chocolate.....Enjoy!!
