Banh Bao Vietnamese Buns

I hope everybody is safe dreaming on what to do once we go out!!

I love Vietnam, and these fluffy breads are easy to make.....you can fill it with wharever you have!

Bahn Bao

170 g of water
1/2 teaspoon  of dry yeast
260 g of flour
35 g of cornstarch
10 g of sugar
1 tablespoon of oil
1 tablespoon of sour dough starter

Mix everything, and let it rise for 2 hours. Divide it in 10 pieces. Roll them and fold it in half, and place it on a piece of parchment paper. Let it rest for 30 minutes. Steam them on a a steamer (bamboo pot) for 12 minutes. Fill it with whatever you have. In my case, I used tofu, broccoli, and mix of veggies.

Broccoli: sautee with oil and garlic
Mix of veggies: sautee with oil, soy sauce and garlic

Tofu: Marinate the tofu in pieces with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, hoisin sauce. Let it marinate for 2 hours in the fridge, and fry them.

Enjoy!

And pictures from a markek in Ho Chi Minh City.....
