As usual, I celebrate everything. Every year, I celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi that is the celebration of the birth of Lord Ganesh. Lord Ganesh is the remover of obstacles......let's the obstacles be removed!!
Dal Tadka
1 cup toor dal (you can use split chickpeas) soaked in warm water
1 teaspoon of ghee or olive oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
1 onion chopped
2 garlics chopped
1 piece of ginger grated (3 cm)
2 tomatoes chopped
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon gram masala
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 dry chili
In a pot, heat the ghee/olive oil, add the mustard seeds and cumin. When they are popping, add the onion, garlic, and ginger. Let it cook for 3 minutes. Add the tomatoes, and all the spices with the salt. Let it simmer for 2 minutes to extract the flavors. Add the toor dal, along with 2 or 3 cups of water 9depending how thick you like it). Let it cook for 30 minutes, or until it is well done. Adjust for salt. ENJOY!
