Prawn Masala

 Every time I make Indian food, I try a couple of new dishes. This time was Prawn Masala

Prawn Masala

3 tablespoon ghee or olive oil

1 onion finely chopped

1 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 1/2 teaspoon gram masala

1 piece of  ginger (2-3 cm) minced

3 garlic cloves minced 

1 1/2 teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder

1 teaspoon freshly grinded cumin

1 cup  tomato purée

Salt to taste

2 tablespoon of cream

450 grams cleaned, peeled, and deveined prawns

coriander for decoration 

In a pot, heat the ghee or olive oil. Add the onion, ginger and garlic. Let it cook until is translucent. Add the spices, and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Add the tomato, and let it reduced 1/4 of its current level. Add the prawns, and simmer for 6 minutes or until they are cooked. Add the cream, mix it and decorate it with coriander leaves. ENJOY!


  1. The gravy looks so good and those jumbo prawns are so succulent and yummy.
