I don't remember where I found this pizza (Instagram or youtube), and immediately caught my attention!....cheese and onioins is one of my favorite combinations!!
Proportions varies depending on the size of your cast iron pan
Onion Cheese Pizza in Cast Iron Pan
2 onions
Home made pizza dough
Havarti and Gouda cheeses grated
Parmiggiano cheese grated
Olive oil
Cut onions in julienne, and stir fry them in olive oil until golden brown. Set aside, and let the cast iron pan be cooled.
Place half of pizza dough on the cast iron pan. Add the onions, cheeses (except parmiggiano), place the other half of pizza dough as a cover. Brush it with olive oil, sprinkle the parmiggiano cheese, and make some holes in the middle. Bake it in a preheated oven at 220C for 9 minutes and then 190C for 9 minutes or until golden brown. ENJOY!
We have three sizes of cast iron pans so we could make small, medium and large pizzas. This looks good and worth a try.
