I promised myself not to watch more Greek recipes in youtube, but I couldn't resist.....This dessert is easy, cheap and so delicious!!...the original recipe is with orange, but I didn't have it; thus, I made it with lemon zest....the taste was similar to Crema Catalana....so good!!...Then, I made it with orange, and the taste and consistency was similar to Galaktoboureko....I can wait to make it again!!
1 liter milk
170 g sugar
60 g fine semolina
60 g cornstarch
1 tbsp vanilla extract
Zest from 1 orange or 1 lemon
50 g butter
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp sugar
In a pot, mix all the ingredients (except the butter) and cook it until it is thick and creamy. Add the butter, and stir it very well.
With butter, grease an oven mold, and dust it with semolina. Place the cream, and brush it with the water/egg mixture. Bake it in the oven at 375F for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Serve it cold. ENJOY!
