Chicago desde el Lago

Fue un viaje inesperado ..... Mi marido tenía que ir a una conferencia en Chicago, y siempre disfruto de visitar esa ciudad maravillosa ....


Chicago es para mí una de las ciudades más interesantes de los EE.UU.. Tiene una población multicultural, una serie de clubes de jazz excepcional para ir sólo a escuchar Blues, fantásticos museos, magníficos restaurantes, y un comercio interesante ..... 

Recuerdo que la primera vez que escuché Blues de Chicago nos encanto..... Para mí es una música que te hace sentir de dentro ..... una música para disfrutar. En nuestro primer viaje a Chicago, visitamos el famoso Blue Chicago (no sabíamos que era famoso ...).... y  descubrimos un nuevo mundo de música ..... Chicago está lleno de bares con Blues, y es muy asequible ($ 10 la entrada o  7 euros) para escuchar musica en vivo y es sin duda una experiencia interesante!

Otra actividad que nos gusta mucho es ir a museos. Aun cuando para mi los mejores museos de USA estan en Houston (y espero ir a Houston pronto!!), Chicago tiene excelentes opciones como el  Shedd Aquarium, Field Museo de Historia Natural, Museum de Ciencia e Industria, y el  Adler Planetario. Una de las cosas que me encanta es que los museos estan pensados para ir con los chicos.....y a ellos les encanta!!

Para mi, Chicago (junto a New York y Washington) tiene la mas diversa cocina. Esta muestra su diversidad etnica y herencia cultural. Tipico para comer es la deep-dish pizza, y sandwiches como Chicago-style hot-dog, el famoso Maxwell Street Polish, y el jibarito.

En USA (como tambien en Canada), Usted puede llevarse del restaurant lo que ha dejado en su plato......a esto se le llama "doggy bag" o "bolsa para el perro".....se supone es para comer en casa y no es para el perro!......... hasta en los mejores restaurantes estan preparados para darle una caja con los restos de comida.

Tambien, compre algunos souvenirs......Cuando viajamos, nuestras compras favoritas son utensilios para mi cocina.....nos encanta comprar no solo artefactos para cocinar, sino tambien para recordar nuestros viajes.....Viena estabas en lo correcto!!....Amo comprar cosas para mi cocina!!

 

 

 

Finalmente, mis disculpas por esta entrada tardia y no haber visitado sus cocinas esta semana. El computador que uso para este blog estaba con problemas, y nos tomo unos dias arreglarlo!!!.....Empezare a visitar sus cocinas de inmediato!!

It was an unexpected trip.....My husband had to go to a Conference in Chicago, and we always enjoy to visit that wonderful city....

Chicago is for me one of the most interesting cities in the USA. It has a very multicultural population, an array of fantastic jazz clubs to go just to listen Blues, fantastic museums, wonderful restaurants, and interesting shopping.....

I remember that the first time I listened to Chicago Blues, I felt in love with that music.....For me it is a music that makes you feel from inside.....a music to enjoy. In our first trip to Chicago, we went to the famous Blue Chicago (we did not know that it was famous...).... and we discover a whole new world in music.....Chicago is full of bar with Blues, and is a very affordable ($10 the cover) and interesting experience to have!!!

Another activity that I like very much is to go to museums. Although, for me the best museums of the USA are in Houston (and I hope to visit Houston very soon!!), Chicago has very good options that we enjoyed like the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum of Natural History, Museum of Science and Industry, and the Adler Planetarium. In the USA (as well in Canada), you can take from the restaurant what you have left in your plate in what is called a "doggy bag"......... even in the best restaurants they are prepared to give you a box with the food.

Also, I bought some souvenirs......When I travel, my favourite shopping is utensils for my kitchen.....I love to buy things that not only I will cook with them, but also it will make me remember that trip.....Viena you were right!!....I love to buy things for my kitchen!!

 

 

 

Finally, apologies for this late posting, and for not being able to visit your kitchen this week. My computer was having some problems that took us some days in the repair shop!!.....I will start visiting your kitchens very soon!!
